This past September 14-15, 2018 the Satellite Collective presented Echo & Narcissus in Brooklyn, New York at BAM Fisher.

I had the opportunity to interview the choreographer Norbert De La Cruz III.

Norbert De La Cruz III is from the Philippines, and he moved to California when he was two years old and grow up there. His passion allows him to move to New York City and study in Juilliard University.

Echo & Narcissus is a multidisciplinary artform that included live chamber performance, visual art, ballet, digital multimedia, and opera. Norbert was able to obtain ideas from the team, and from there he was able to acknowledge the fact that they wanted the artform to be modern.

The reality is that the dancers had the terrific power of understanding and feeling many emotions, for example, love, hate, and sadness. Norbert was able to guide the process of the dancers through three months of rehearsal. During those rehearsals, they were able to talk about the feelings of being heartbroken then that was translated to movement and what gesture resonates when they were thinking about those emotions. The dancer's group was diverse and dynamic, and through experimentation and acting they were able to feel comfortable with each other. They experiment with the movements, music, and emotions.

This artform was beyond excellent. The dancers, the music, the acting, and the visuals were so dynamic that the audience felt the roller coasters of emotions making Echo & Narcissus unforgettable for everyone.

Congratulations all we can't wait for the next one!
