What is the TV Serie La Calle?

It is about three children by the name of Jayla, Maximo & Angelo, who witness their parents be murdered in front of them in a deadly home invasion but manage to escape: To then grow up with an uncle and do what they learned and loved as children. With two of them becoming highly successful and the other seeking revenge for their parents killer.

Arilyn: How do you feel producing this project and so far what have you enjoy the most?

Eduardo Luna: I feel great about producing La Calle TV Series because this is a multicultural and a unique project. So far I enjoy every process of the project, the shooting locations in Washington Heights, the Crew and Cast has been doing an excellent work.

Arilyn: Tell us briefly how was the planning of this project?

Eduardo Luna: The planning of this project was excellent, Chase, Jules, Jay, and I were talking about every possibility and opportunities that we have. We were on top of the script. We did the castings, then rehearsals and a lot of meetings. One week before the shooting day, I look for the permits to secure our locations. Chase was looking for the props and, Jules was rehearsing with the cast. Jay was fixing few scenes, and we did the locations scouting with DP John Hudak. In other words, we did everything as a Team, and that’s why this project is amazing.

Arilyn: How did you get involved in this project?

Jules Cortez: I got involved in this project through a friend of mine who's recently passed away his name is David Betances “Diamond Dave”. He introduces me to Chase Torres who is the creator/writer. He and J. Filter have written the vision, and they came to me to produce. At the time Diamond Dave was very busy, and he passes it to me to direct. He was planning to direct the project but unfortunately, he was sick due to cancer. He fights cancer three times and then he recently past away. We wait it for him for about two years in that time we did the casting working with his schedule and his health and then he passed. Rest in Peace Diamond Dave. Things wouldn’t happen because of him. That’s the reason why we care very much about this project.

Arilyn: How did you come across with this idea?

Chase Torres: We had an idea of a trap artist that something bad happens to his family. Then one of the brothers chooses to go on the right path and go to school and his brother decided the way of not to finishing school and do the bad things that his father did.

Arilyn: How long did it take you, and your partner J. Filter writes the episodes?

Chase Torres: We started two years ago, and then we put on hold for other two and now we just stared filmed.

Arilyn: How many episodes have the series?

Chase Torres: It’s going to be around five episodes in total.

Arilyn: Why did you decide to cast Messiah for the project?

Chase Torres: We wrote the character and we knew that Messiah would identify with him a lot. Messiah is one of the first young inspiring artists that brought trap music out here to Washington Heights, so the story is about a Dominican Family that leaves in Washington Heights so when we wrote we knew that we want it.
