Your ideas are very important,
No matter, what is you’re age, if you went to college or learn by your own. If you're a real screenwriter people will realize when they see your work on the big screen. Or when people read you’re script and get exited. Many people had approach me and say that they have an idea but are afraid to talk about it because they think that people can steal their ideas. Unfortunately, this happens every day but I can recommend you the following. Do not share your idea with anyone until you've registered your script.
You can register your script on Writers Guild of America:
http://www.wgawregistry.org
Cost:
For $ 10 WGA members
$ 20 for non-members at WGAwest
$ 22 for non-members at WGAeast
Students for $ 17 at WGAeast.
You can register the script with the copyright office:
http://www.copyright.gov
http://www.copyright.gov/eco/eco-tutorial-standard.pdf
(Enpdf intrusions.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp8FJI_XW2U
(Video instructions)
Cost:
Mail $ 45
Online $ 35
After you have registered your script, you can share with a non-disclosure agreement, and that would prevent that people steal your idea. If you're idea is taken then you can sue because you will have a way to prove it.
Note: I remember when I was recording a video of a presentation by Edgardo Miranda who works at Marvel, and he said that he’s teacher told him if we do not write our stories nobody would do it. So this is the time Latinos! Lets do it!
